To the Airmen and
Civilians of the Cyberspace Community,
On Friday the dignified return of eight of our fallen Airmen killed during a
shooting incident in Kabul occurred at Dover AFB. Among the fallen were four
from our Cyberspace family. These Airmen made the ultimate sacrifice guarding
the ideals they swore to protect. Their loss serves as a reminder to all of us
that our mission is perilous, and is often carried out under threat in dangerous
places.
The Cyberspace Warriors we lost were among our best. Maj Phillip Ambard was a
Cyber Warfare Operations Control Officer assigned to the 460th Space Command
Squadron at Buckley AFB, CO and was deployed as a Communications Air Advisor.
Maj Raymond Estelle was a Cyberspace Operations Officer assigned to OL A900 at
Langley AFB, VA and was deployed as the AFEUR/AF Branch Chief. Capt Charles
Ransom was a Cyber Warfare Operations Control Officer assigned to the 83rd
Network Operations Squadron, Langley AFB, VA and deployed as a Plans and
Resources Flight Commander. Finally, TSgt Tara Brown was a Client Systems
Specialist assigned to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Andrews
AFB, MD and was on deployment as NCOIC, Client Support.
In the days since the incident my thoughts have been with the family and friends
they left behind. Their selflessness along with the others the Air Force lost is
beyond measure and leaves me speechless with both sorrow and unbelievable pride
for the manner with which they devoted themselves to our shared calling. I ask
that you take a moment to reflect on the sacrifice and service of these Airmen
and their families; please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they make
their final journey home.
